Germany (The End)

And this is how an epic tale of an adventurer in a foreign land ends.
The last classes of the language I had had seemed empty and meaningless. Why was I feeling this?
Was it just the grieve of leaving or something else? Furthermore, why did I have those kind of feelings?
It wasn't the first time that I had to say goodbye, and it wouldn't be the last. Then, what happened? Was it the same feeling as when I left Ireland?
I simply had to do it.
So after packing my stuff, I left. Despite of this, I didn't feel anything. The Man, Bride, Karyon... All of them were going to stay behind and my heart stopped beating, as if I didn't care for them.
But I did.
Once in the airplane, my mind started to create ideas. Ideas that I had heard before in the same place. However, this time my thoughts were on German.

Despite everything, it wasn't such a difficult language!

Germany (Part 4)

A short weekend led me to a long week of work. And, seriously. Do not ever try to learn German if you aren't aware of the risks it may entail. The only significant thing in this week was working on the improvement of my level in this language. I was able to learn more about the other inhabitants of the house, specially Bride. On Friday, I was able to visit a modern art and music museum in Frankfurt with Jack of Spades, who is terrible at driving and almost killed us both. The museum tour was good enough to make me forget how bad he drove, just to be surprised again on the way back, which led me to ask any existant force in nature to kill me quickly before that man did.
After this ill-fated road trip, a quite remarkable weekend appeared before me. I went to Nürnberg along with The Man and Greywife to visit some of their family and to attend a bards' festival, where people from all over the world sang their ballads, which told stories of tough lives and human behaviour.
And, finally, the last week came...

Germany (Part 3)

Endlich, as my German mates like to say, I went to the German school in Mainz, where I was about to learn how to use this complex language properly. Before I had even got to the school, both The Man and Bride gave me advice on how to use the tram and bus system in Germany. Though my German level wasn't that good, I reached Mainz safely, uninjured and with a smile in my face. Once in the school, I met my classmates. Now, guys, if you know fictional organisations such as The Maleficient Seven from books, comics, films... You'll probably think that the members inside societies are really varied, if not completely different from each other. Well, then get ready to meet my class group. People from all around the world, with jobs such as clerics, doctors and policemen. To be honest, everyone there was at least 10 years older than me! Wow! Amanzingly amazing!
Just as I was going back to the place I was living on the trams, I was faced with something that scared the hell out of me. Although I remembered how to use the tram and where to go, I didn't know how to guide myself through The Man's hamlet!
That's why I think I'm stupid.
Luckily, my survival instinct, (along with a brain that wasn't at all rusty unlike 90% of the people I know) guided me through that labyrinth.
And that was the week itself. I learnt, wrote, did a lot of work, chatted with The Man and that kind of stuff. Then came the weekend. That Saturday I visited Hesse, a region in Central Germany which is known for it's ancient buildings, the beautiful countryside and the unique lifestyle. I was even able to watch a blacksmith working! And that's certainly something you don't see everyday. Plus, I was also able to visit the remains of a Roman city, which was amazing. That day was worth it all.
And then, Sunday. What was supposed to be a normal day of chilling and avoiding any kind of physical activity turned into a day where I was told to visit Frankfurt's Zoo. At first, I was keen on the idea, since I had never visited a zoo before. I was excited by everything I saw, from different kinds of apes to bears, and from seals to lions. It was then that I felt a shiver like a knife as cold as ice running down my back. It's lack of warmth left my eyes wide-open. I realised that those creatures were there against their own will. My mind was blank. Nobody else but the animals were in the dimension my mind had just formed. They were in cages, expelled from their own habitats. And I felt really sorry for them. Another person appeared in this dimension. Its face was darkened, but its figure was very similar to mine. I asked him. And a voice answered. It told me that, even though the animals' freedom was non-existant in zoos, their lifes were safe.
Yet I was unable to solve the dilemma: Freedom or security? A happy but short life, or a long one where you know that you are going to die in the same ten square metres where you were born?
This question still haunts me like a ghost from the past. Whenever I think of it, my brain gets struck by a throbbing pain.
My weekend finished as the question settled in my brain.

Germany (Part 2)

Let's say that at the beginning of the second week I was met with a proposal, no, THE OBLIGATION, of going to Stuttgart along with The Man and his wife, to be known from now on as Greywife. After I had seen their children off, whose names aren't going to be revealed either, let's just call them Bride, when we are talking about the 22-years old blue-eyed beauty, Karyon if we are talking about her boyfriend and Jack of Spades when we talk about Bride's brother. Right after seeing them off, I got ready to enjoy a journey which was RATHER LONG (capital letters, bold, underlined and italics, I hope that can give you an idea of how long it was). After 'some' hours I finally got there. When I finally settled down in what was going to be my room, I told to myself that I was way too old for doing trips like this one.
The first two days were just warm enough to prevent from even moving, that would have caused a
'Sweat-nami'. I rose from the dead the third day. Finally freed from that hell-like cage. That day I went to the Mercedes-Benz museum, where I was amazed by the hard work of keeping old cars as good as they were on their very first day, or, at least, they did a good job at faking it. Really beautiful, though.
Another long trip back home was arranged on the third night. Listening to heavy metal wasn't enough to keep me awake while travelling, that's why I almost fell asleep in the car. It had been a long and hot day, indeed!
The next days were easy enough to handle, because my only obligation was to keep on studying German grammar... Such a difficult language...*sigh* Anyone who masters it must be a total genius.

Germany (Part 1)

To be honest, I don't know how to start this, so let's just say I travelled a few months ago to Germany.
This journey was meant to improve my level in the language. At first, I took it as a duty more than as a pleasure trip, and, furthermore, it turned out to be as I expected. My father was the one who was really interested in the journey, so he talked to a friend of his and I stayed at his for a month. This man, whose name I'm not going to reveal, was really kind to me and helped me in any way possible. I was left in Mainz, a city which is near to Frankfurt. When I first heard that I was going to live in the basement, I jokingly said that it wasn't a bad place for a monster like me, hoping that he had been joking too. Sometimes I can't believe how stupid I am.
The first days weren't bad at all, I just learnt a bit of the language from The Man.

Next week adventures will be told in further posts.

Hope you enjoyed!
